Paramente
Parament Series for St. Matthew’s Church in Bad Kötzting (in development)
For St. Matthew’s Church in Bad Kötzting, I have developed a concept for a parament series that translates the liturgical seasons of the church year into a contemporary, textile visual language. The starting point is a prototype for Pentecost, which serves as the basis for the further development of the series.
Five sets of vestments are planned for Christmas, Lent, Easter, Trinity Sunday, and Harvest Festival, each consisting of an altar and a pulpit vestment. The designs feature color gradients, painterly surfaces, and—depending on the variant—subtle symbolism. The focus is not on illustration, but on translating liturgical moods into color, texture, and textile presence.
The Jacquard weaving technique is planned for the implementation, which translates painterly visual concepts into woven surfaces and enables nuanced color and texture gradients. The project is conceived as a site-specific series and will be realized in the course of 2026.
The current images show the prototype to illustrate the work.
